Willow Park Fishery Report

Autumn/Winter 2007

Well, doesn't time fly, it seems only yesterday that we were looking forward to the summer and now the autumn is here. We had a good summer; the rainfall was up, which proved a blessing in disguise, as it kept the water levels up. We saw plenty of club action and had good results on our open matches. We again played host to the carp forum boys (and girls!), and I think I can say that they enjoyed their weekend with us.

There are still plenty of fish to be caught, but with the drop in water temperature tackle needs to be fined down to ensure the bites keep coming. Match weights are still good for the time of year, with the more experienced anglers finding the right tactics on the day. As the colder weather comes in it looks like the caster/worm combination seems to be working, but there are still goods weights to maggot, mostly silvers. Match weights on the big lake have been good with up to 70lb of bream regularly coming out on both the pole and feeder.

The big lake is now slower than in the warmer weather, but we are still reporting good catches, mainly on boilies to the gravel bars, so break out those thermals and give it a go, there is always a hot breakfast to be had at the weekends!

Our winter league will be starting on the 27th October, alternate Saturdays until the 9th march, on the small and middle lakes only this year, interspersed with opens on alternate lakes, give us a ring to book in.

We are looking forward to some fine autumn days, and a positive winter, so why not pay us a visit, there will be a warm welcome, what ever the weather!

Spring/Summer 2007

The supercarp that were stocked over Easter have now settled in and are feeding well.

Most fish have now spawned and are back on the feed. Match weights have been up to 80lb, mostly carp with a few silverfish. Fishery pellet, hemp, maggot & casters are all good feed baits, with pellet, corn, meat and paste working well on the hook.

Pleasure anglers are now out of hibernation and enjoying a good days fishing on the bank.

The specimen lake is also fishing well, with day anglers catching up to 6 doubles and night anglers 10 plus with upper doubles and low 20`s common. Baits vary, but most are spodding/pva bagging, with fishery pellet, hemp, chopped boilies as feed and boilies on the hook.

Overall the venue is fishing well and this looks set to continue through the summer months.
